Echnidorus Iguazu 2009 is among the rarest Echinodorus from the Opacus / Portoalegrensis group that has unique leaves that features bright lime green venation running through its deeper green leaves. It has a rounded leaf shape and a relatively slow growth rate. As it does not grow relatively tall, it is very suitable to be positioned in the foreground or midground region.

Based on Aquarzon's research, this rare plant originates from Iguazu Falls, the largest waterfall system in the world. It is located at the
border of the Argentine province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Parana. The year at the back of its name, 2009, represents the year it was discovered and collected.

Its growth rate depends a lot on its surroundings. This plant is suitable for low tech but grows much faster under high tech conditions. When we grew it under high lighting with Co2 and ideal level of nutrients, we had one new leaf almost every 10 days. Macronutrients and iron helps in increasing this plant's growth rate. In low tech tanks, it can take 1-2 months for 1 new leaf to grow. In high lighting tanks with CO2, it generally takes 10-20 days for 1 new leaf to grow.

This plant is best used in an aquascape that requires a unique feature plant to add sophistication, especially  to an ordinary and simple aquascape.

This plant grown by Aquarzon is 100% submersed grown indoor and is very clean, free from weeds and outdoor pests. It is not tissue culture or emersed grown stock which can suffer transitional melting issues when planted in an aquarium. Our indoor submersed grown stock is in very healthy condition and ready to be planted straight in an aquarium.
