Aquarzon's stock is grown indoors which means that we can ensure they are free from outdoor pests such as dragonfly larvae which eat shrimps and baby fish. We have a higher running cost growing them indoors but this is done to ensure the plants are clean and do not carry pests which may harm customers' aquariums. Our policy is that quality and cleanliness come first.
Most Hygroryza Aristata propagated commercially in Australia are grown outdoors using the sun as a free light source. However, growing them outdoors enables outdoor pests to hitchhike on them, which is why we do not grow them outdoors.
Hygroryza Aristata is an interesting floating plant that is suitable for both aquariums and ponds. It is much larger than most usual aquarium floating plants.
As can be seen from Aquazon's close up photo of its leaves, this plant grows leaves with beautiful, textured pattern.
Based on our measurement, it can generally grow to a width of around 8cm. There is no maximum length as this plant will naturally grow longer across the water surface as time passes. When it grows longer, you can easily cut it into half.
Hygroryza Aristata is a highly recommended floating plant as it is an easy floating plant that does not simply spread everywhere unlike duckweed. It also gives a very natural effect to the top part of an aquarium.
It can absorb nitrates effectively, especially in a low tech tank.
