Red Tiger Lotus (Nymphaea Lotus 'Red' / Nymphaea Zenkeri) is an attractive water lilly originating from Africa that grows big and beautiful red leaves with a nice pattern on its leaves. 

This lotus can grow very big and is therefore suitable for large aquariums. It can also be used in a medium size aquarium by trimming when it gets bigger than needed.

This plant is best used in a medium or large aquarium that needs attractive centerpiece plant that is red in colour.

Our Red Tiger Lotus is submersed grown in aquarium with good lighting, Co2 supplementation and complete fertilisation, producing beautiful red leaves which can be used to be an instant beauty in an aquascape. It is not outdoor or pond grown so it is free from outdoor pests. Most commercial nurseries produce lotus outdoors which makes it susceptible to outdoor pests such as dragonfly larvae / nymph which eats shrimp and small aquarium fish.  

This plant grown by Aquarzon is 100% aquarium submersed grown indoor and is very clean, free from weeds and outdoor pests. It is not tissue culture or emersed grown stock which can suffer transitional melting issues when planted in an aquarium. Our indoor submersed grown stock is in very healthy condition and ready to be planted straight in an aquarium.



Photo below is taken by Aquarzon under room lighting with some indirect LED lighting showing a huge mature leaf. There is some slight purplish reflection which is coming from a nearby LED light.

Naturally, not all leaves will be huge like this on the same plant because some leaves will be newer/younger and are still growing while the largest leaf of the particular plant has reached its almost maximum size.

That means some leaves will be big, some will be smaller but in general, it is a big plant that is tall and with beautifully-coloured leaves.
