Rotala Blood Red Portion Type: 100% Quality Aquarium Submersed Grown, not Outdoor Emersed Grown

Aquarzon's Rotala Blood Red have strong red colours. They are healthy and grown submersed with CO2 and high lighting. The photos here are all taken by us of our actual stock.

Rotala Blood Red is a less common small-leaves stem plant that has the potential to grow strong pinkish-red leaves. It is a lovely stem plant that can suit most aquascape styles including Dutch aquascape and Nature Aquarium aquascape planted tanks.

In our propagation experience, Rotala Blood Red and Ludwigia Super Red Mini are the top 3 reddest stem plants in Australia.

Based on Aquarzon's observations, their leaves are similar in shape to Rotala H'ra whereby their leaves are a narrow, oblong shape. Compared to Ludwigia Super Red Mini, this Rotala Blood Red has smaller and narrower leaves.

As per Aquarzon's records, Rotala Blood Red became a mainstream aquarium plant in Australia in 2021, after Rotala Ramosior Florida. It was initially considered a rare plant but due to its relatively fast growth, it is now considered a more common plant. It is still not as common as Rotala Vietnam, Rotaal H'ra Gia Lai, Rotala Rotundifolia, etc. as these Rotala became mainstream aquarium plants many years before Rotala Blood Red.

Just like any other red aquarium stem plant, its colour tone is affected by lighting and iron nutrient. If it is grown under higher lighting level and more iron, it will naturally grow redder. If it is grown in lower lighting level, it will grow less red and more green.

An advantage of this plant though is that it still grow some red tone even under lower lighting level, as long as there is sufficient iron and the lighting is not too low.

This makes it a red stem plant that can suit almost all tank types including low tech tanks.

This plant offered by Aquarzon is 100% aquarium submersed grown indoor and is very clean, free from weeds and outdoor pests. It is not tissue culture or emersed grown stock which can suffer transitional melting issues when planted in an aquarium. Our indoor submersed grown stock is in very healthy condition and ready to be planted straight in an aquarium.
