There are a few types of variants and this listing is for the proper, original Magdascar Lace Plant, known by the scientific name, Aponogeton Madagascariensis, which is the rarer type.
It is not the Aponogeton Henkelianus which is much more commonly available. Some places sell the 'Henkelianus' variety as Madagascar Lace Plant, but this can cause confusion. There is only one original Madagascar Lace Plant (Aponogeton Madagascariensis) and the more commonly available 'Henkelianus' plant is not the same.
As the name suggests, this unique centerpiece aquarium plant originates from Madagascar.
Madagascar Lace Plant (MLP) is a very unique centerpiece plant that is not commonly seen in Australia. It produces very special skeletal pattern leaves. Because of its skeletal leaves, plants growing under this plant can still receive some form of lighting.
This plant is best used in a medium or large aquarium that needs very unique centerpiece plant with one-of-a-kind skeletal leaves. It can grow into a very big plant.
In our experience, although some websites mentioned this plant grows at a slow or very slow rate, our stock is growing at a medium rate under high tech tank conditions. This plant can be grown without Co2, as long as there is sufficient light but growth will be much slower.
Our Madagascar Lace Fern is submersed grown in aquarium with good lighting, Co2 supplementation and complete fertilisation, producing beautiful skeletal leaves which are ready to be an instant stunner in an aquascape. It is not outdoor or pond grown.
This plant grown by Aquarzon is 100% aquarium submersed grown indoor and is very clean, free from weeds and outdoor pests. It is not tissue culture or emersed grown stock which can suffer transitional melting issues when planted in an aquarium. Our indoor submersed grown stock is in very healthy condition and ready to be planted straight in an aquarium.
