Micro Java Fern is currently the smallest Java Fern variant known to the aquarium hobby. True Micro Java Fern is rare as many "Micro Java Fern" sold are not the true variant but in fact, a young plant of Mini Java Fern or Java Fern which would enventually grow big.
The Micro Java Fern propagated by Aquarzon is 100% true Micro Java Fern which grows the half the size or less compared to Mini Java Fern and much smaller than the standard Java Fern. It is a stunning small fern that grows very compact and can be used in the foreground or as a midground feature plant just like how we used it in our aquascape.
Aquarzon propagates more than 15 types of ferns including true Micro, Mini, Needle, Windelov, Philippines, Thor Hammer, Fork Leaf, Spoon Leaf Java Fern variants as well Crepidomanes Auriculatum, K1 etc so you can be assured when it comes to this, we can definitely provide the exact true Micro Java Fern.
We have grown Micro Java Fern in more than 10 different setups/aquariums throughout the years and noticed that its size can really be affected by its environment, water parameters, lighting intensity and nutrients. As an example, we had a Micro Java Fern clump that was split into 2 halves. Each half was placed into 2 different setups and after 1 year, one of the halves was around 2 times bigger than the other. The leaves were around twice as long. There were some occasions whereby the Micro Java Fern grew to almost as long as Mini Java Fern. However, in most cases, our long-term observations over many years and over different setups indicates that Micro Java Fern usually grows to around half the size of Mini Java Fern. The average leaf length we found is 2-6cm. There have been instances where the leaf length was longer.
All photos here are the actual true Micro Java Fern propagated by us and used in our aquascape.
