Lilaeopsis is a beautiful creeping lawn that grows relatively short leaves (usually around 3-6cm height) and has a carpeting growth habit. It is a hardy foreground plant that can be kept in both low and high tech aquarium tanks.
This carpeting plant is best for an aquascape that needs a grassy lawn that has fuller and thicker leaves with more volume compared to Japanese Dwarf Haigrass. It is sometimes known as micro sword plant.
Under high lighting / high tech setups, it usually grows shorter (around 3cm) and in lower lighting / low tech setups. it usually grows around 4-6cm height.
Aquarzon recommends this to be best used as a supporting foreground plant. For example, your aquarium can use Japanese Dwarf Hairgrass or Micranthemum Monte Carlo as the primary carpeting foreground plant and then this Lilaeopsis is used as a supporting foreground plant. It can be used to be a perimeter foreground plant or you can use some clusters of them to strategically place them at the base of our rocks or driftwood which would create an excellent, natural effect.
There are a number of species of Lilaeopsis such as Lilaeopsis brisbanica, brasiliensis and novae-zelandiae. Their appearance are very similar and can all achieve the same effect.
