Aquarzon's Red Root Floaters are grown indoors which means that we can ensure they are free from outdoor pests such as dragonfly larvae which eat shrimps and baby fish. We have a higher running cost growing them indoors but this is done to ensure the plants are clean and do not carry pests which may harm customers' aquariums. Our policy is that quality and cleanliness come first.

Most Red Root Floaters propagated commercially in Australia are grown outdoor using the sun as a free light source. However, growing them outdoors enables outdoor pests to hitchhike on them and this is why we do not grow them outdoors.

Red Root Floater is an easy floating plant that originates from South America and can grow red round leaves. Besides the red colouration on its leaves, the red colouration can also appear on its roots.

The redness of this plant depends on how much lighting it gets and iron availability in a particular aquarium.

Please understand that each batch grown can have different colour tone due to lighting and nutrient availability. Some batches may be more green while some batches may be more red. Regardless, no worries at all as the ability to grow red always remain. The moment it is grown in high lighting and high iron aquarium, it will start growing new red leaves within a week or so.

This plant is generally considered to be more attractive than the common Amazon Frogbit and unlike duckweed, it is not hard to be removed when it needs to be removed.
