Crepidomanes Malabarium is a very rare micro fern that has very tiny fern leaves and best used as a special feature foreground. It is a unique fern that is best attached to a rock and left to naturally grow. It grows by creeping across and each leaf only grows up to maximum size of around 1cm or less. Its leaves are dark green in colour and its rhizoids (roots) at the bottom of its fern leaves can have a brown, furry appearance which is not to be mistaken as brown algae or BBA.
This moss-like fern is one of those very few ferns that can actually form a carpet over a stone due to its creeping growth habit and its very short leaves. In the wild, this fern is usually found on rocks along streams in southwest of India. In its natural habitat, it only gets fully wet during raining period.
It has a very slow growth rate and therefore, our available stock is in very limited quantity as what we have are based on what we can propagate. Once it is out of stock, it usually takes a few weeks to be back in stock due to its really slow growth rate.
Aquarzon's Crepidomanes Malabaricum is quality aquarium grown stock which are free from weeds and also free from BBA, Green Spot Algae and Green Hair Algae. We obtained the initial specimen from a highly experienced hobbyist in Australia and had patiently grow it over a period of more than one year.
The photo here shown an example portion of around 10 leaves.
