Spoon Leaf Fern is an extremely rare variant of the Java Fern that grows very unique spooning and curving leaves.
It grows broad, curvy leaves that uniquely curved in two ways, horizontally and vertically. When left to grow undisturbed with sufficient nutrients and enough lighting over a few months, this unique fern variant can grow curving into the shape of talons / claws which is truly stunning, as can be seen from the photos we took here.
It is important to know that the curve of each plant varies from one another as part of their natural characteristic.
When they are younger, their spooning curve is less prominent. It shows most when they mature into adults and when grown unded good conditions.
We love this Spoon Leaf Fern as it can be used to create illusionary effect in an aquascape. For example, it could be used to create an entrance effect to a tunnel or cave in your aquascape. The possibilities are endless.
The Spoon Leaf Fern that Aquarzon propagates is 100% true Spoon Leaf Fern and we originally sourced the initial stock from a highly experienced hobbyist in Australia to propagate.
