Aquarzon Honest Information:
We honestly think this is a very beautiful thermometer, especially with its semi-transparent and very slim design.
But at the same time, we think it is important for us to cover on the measurement accuracy aspect for our customers' benefit.
The manufacturer states that the 'measurement accuracy' is 0.1 degree C.
We do not doubt that the sensor may have that 0.1-degree accuracy.
However, we believe the 'effective measurement accuracy' it is more likely to be around 0.1 to 1 degree C.
What we mean by 'effective measurement accuracy' is how accurate the measurement is showing up on the thermometer compared to the actual temperature in the aquarium water.
We believe the 'effective measurement accuracy is more likely to be around 0.1 to 1 degree C and there is a valid reason for this as explained below.
This is because no matter how sensitive a thermometer is (even if it is a research lab-grade thermometer), when it is placed outside the aquarium, it would never be a 100% exact measurement of the aquarium water.
This is due to the fact that the aquarium glass acts as a buffering/separating layer.
However, the good news is, the thermometer sensor is overall very accurate. It is just that you need to understand that the aquarium glass will cause a slight variance to the reading since the thermometer is placed externally (on the outer part of the glass). So it is not about the sensor not being super accurate, it is about the aquarium glass which will cause a slight variance.
This slight variance is usually minimal which means it is still overall, quite accurate and accurate enough for most aquarium types.
For most aquariums, a 0.1-1 degree C does not matter very much. As an example, in most fish tanks like guppy/tetras/betta tanks, 25 degrees vs 25.6 degrees does not matter much for the fish.
In a huge majority of aquarium settings, this thermometer is actually great. It is very beautiful, small, transparent and you can easily see the temperature on the clear LCD screen quickly at any time since it is right at the front of your aquarium.
Aquarzon Installation Tips:
1) After removing that transparent/white sticker to activate the battery, just peel off the back sticker protector and stick the thermometer on outer side of your aquarium glass.
2) Do not put it inside your aquarium or you will risk damaging it as it is not waterproof
3) You should position it below the water surface for improved accuracy.
4) Once again, stick it only on the outside of your aquarium glass.
