This listing is for good-sized Purple Mystery Snails which are around 20mm (not tiny babies like 5mm or tiny juvies like 10mm).

A Mystery snail that is 20mm diameter is very much bigger than a 5-10mm diameter Mystery snail. Just use a ruler and you can see the difference.

The Purple Mystery snails are an uncommon variety of mystery snails that grow beautiful purple shells.

Compared to the usual Mystery snails which are brown/yellow, the purple or magenta variety is less common.

We provide them with Australian cuttlebones to help strengthen their shells. If you need cuttlebones, you can buy from our cuttlebones listing at the bottom of this page.

They usually eat algae, organics, dead leaves and excess fish and shrimp food, making them a good clean-up crew in an aquarium.

In Aquarzon's experience, they generally do not eat healthy plants unless they are starving. They usually eat algae, organics, dead leaves and excess fish and shrimp food, making them a good clean up crew in an aquarium. They should be supplemented with sinking food to ensure they have sufficient food.

They are part of our healthy planted tanks / setups and do a great effort odd bits of uneaten fish food that sinks to the substrate, eating dead leaves, algae, etc.

We do not mass stock / breed them. Also, they are kept in aquariums / setups with their own dedicated filters (not shared sump).

These 2 steps help avoid the probability of any potential disease spread.

If snails are kept / mass breed in close proximity, if one snail has a disease, it is easy to spread to many around it. If shared sump is used, it is easy for tank-to-tank contamination to occur.

By buying here, you can also be assured that they are free from diseases and worm parasites.

To order, you can select your desired quantity before you click Add to Cart (the price is cheaper for larger quantity).

Breeding Tips

The key to breeding these Purple Mystery snails is to ensure that there is sufficient and constant food supply for them. They can eat dead leaves, blanched spinach and sinking fish food as well as shrimp food. At the same time, try to ensure not to have over excess of food as this can pollute your aquarium water. The key is to have sufficient food constantly, but not over-excess. When Mystery snails are ready to lay eggs, they will go above the water surface level to lay the eggs on the aquarium walls.
