With its weathered surface, soft earthy palette, and layered sedimentary character, this stone evokes the tranquil stillness of sunbaked canyons and dry riverbeds, now reborn beneath the water’s surface. 

Ranging in tones from sunlit tan and clay-brown to ochre and dusky beige, each piece of Gobi Mudstone offers a natural warmth that pairs beautifully with green aquatic plants and minimalist hardscape styles. Its layered striations and sculptable form make it perfect for desert-themed, biotope, and artistic nature aquascapes.

It is believed that these mudstones formed during the Jurassic period, approximately 150 million years ago. At that time, the lake contained a lot of silt. As the water receded and evaporated, the fine particles of mud in the lake formed mudstone. After tens of millions of years of movement in the Earth's crust, these mudstones have been squeezed and lifted out to the surface. With Gobi Desert's unique geological and climatic conditions with the effect of natural sand polishing, this desert treasure is finally formed. Such unique stones are typically found only in the Hami region of Xinjiang, a region known as South Lake Devil City. These mudstones are considered rare.

These comes in a pack of 3 and as they are very unique, they can be very different from one another which is part of the excitement.
