Bloody Mary is a type of cherry shrimp that develops beautiful and solid red colouration when it matures. It has a much stronger red colouration than standard Red Cherry Shrimps (RCS). It also has a deeper and darker red than Fire Red shrimps. Bloody Mary shrimps are usually light red when they are juveniles, medium red when subadults and dark, strong red when they become adults.
Not all Bloody Mary shrimp are the same.
The Bloody Mary shrimp offered by Aquarzon here originates from a high-grade lineage with strong red colour and is not mixed with other cherry shrimp, ensuring that their excellent genes are maintained.
They are all healthy, and the size offered is also good. They are juvies/subadults, usually within the size of 0.8cm to 1.4cm (1.0cm average).
Shrimp orders are shipped Express on Monday/Tuesday on their own. If ordering plants/supplies, they will be shipped in separate boxes.

Ideal Shrimp Water Parameters
| Shrimp Type | pH | TDS (ppm) | GH (°dGH) | KH (°dKH) | Temp (°C / °F) | Nitrate (NO₃) | Ammonia (NH₃/NH₄⁺) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pure Red Line (PRL) | 5.5–6.2 | 100–140 | 4–6 | 0–1 | 20–23°C / 68–73°F | < 20 ppm | 0 ppm |
| Bloody Mary Shrimp | 6.8–7.5 | 180–250 | 6–8 | 3–8 | 22–26°C / 72–79°F | < 30 ppm | 0 ppm |
| Snow White Shrimp | 5.5–6.3 | 100–140 | 4–6 | 0–1 | 20–23°C / 68–73°F | < 20 ppm | 0 ppm |
| Extreme Blue Bolt | 5.5–6.2 | 90–130 | 4–5 | 0–1 | 20–23°C / 68–73°F | < 10 ppm | 0 ppm |
The above is a general guide and the ideal levels. Usually, most shrimp can tolerate some variance if it is not too much or too sudden.
For example, Bloody Mary shrimp's ideal PH is 6.8 to 7.5, but they can usually be kept fine at a lower PH of 6.0 as long as it is relatively stable.
Likewise, while the ideal PH for PRL shrimp is 5.5 to 6.2, it is usually fine to be kept at a higher PH of 6.5 too as long as it is relatively stable.
The same applies for TDS.
For beginners, Bloody Mary shrimp are easier to keep due to their adaptability. As for PRL or Blue Bolt shrimp, which are more sensitive and require stricter water control.
To measure PH and TDS, we offer easy digital PH and TDS pens which can measure very fast. For temperature, we have a stick-on semi-transparent thermometer for easy 24/7 viewing. We also offer test strips which measure GH, KH and ammonia. All of these can be found at our Shrimp Care section.

Recommended Food & Plants
The sinking spirulina algae wafer is excellent for shrimp. Besides being highly nutritious, it does not degrade quickly, so shrimp have sufficient time to slowly snack on it.
The Australian cuttlebone provides calcium supplementation, which strengthens the shrimp's shell and protects against moulting issues.
The recommended plants for shrimp are mosses and smaller plants.Mosses such as Peacock Moss, Christmas Moss, Flame Moss, Giant Willow Moss and US Fissidens are excellent as shrimp love to forage on them for natural biofilm and infusoria, which is a natural food source for them.
