Japanese Dwarf Pennywort (Hydrocotyle Tripartita sp. 'Japan') is a very pretty mini pennywort that grows compact and bushy with a nice bright green colour tone. Each plant is just around 2-3cm in height.
It can be grown into a beautiful dense foreground carpet or creeping in the midground on wood or rock for natural efffect.
Aquarzon recommends this plant as it is a very easy plant that is suitable even for low tech (without CO2 addition) tanks. It can be grown submersed or emersed and looks beautiful either way.
We feel this pretty plant is very suitable as a primary foreground carpeting plant, a secondary supporting foreground plant or as a midground creeping plant.
If it is used as a midground plant, we recommend of thinking of ways of using it creatively. Aquarzon recommends a different way of using it as a midground plant which is by either growing it over rocks and wood and also letting it dangle down which can create a truly stunning, natural creeping effect.Â
Another creative way is to grow it on a floating pumice rock.
