Anubias Pinto is a rare white variegated version of the standard Anubias Barteri Nana. It is a beautiful and less common Anubias that is a great foreground and midground special feature and highlight plant for hobbyists that enjoys the appearance of Anubias in their aquascape.Â
Based on our research, the whiteness in their leaves is caused by a virus that causes the plants to produce lack green pigment chlorophyll in some of its plant cells. This virus may be transmitted through cuttings and grafting of non-infected rhizomes onto virus-affected rhizomes. It is not a harmful virus and does not cause any negative effects to the plant, fishes, shrimps etc.Instead, it enables the Anubias to grow beautiful, white variegated leaves.
This less common Anubias grow whiter leaves under higher lighting intensity and Co2. Under low or medium intensity lighting, it can still form white leaves, but in a lower amount. Under our very high light intensity and Co2 test, it was possible to grow all Anubias Pinto new leaves completely white. However, this should only be done if algae is not an issue. This plant can grow very well in low tech tanks (lower lighting aquarium without Co2 supplementation) and can tolerate a very wide range of PH.Â
All Aquarzon Anubias Pinto are 100% submersed grown and cared in our aquarium indoor. They are guaranteed to be healthy, clean and ready to be planted in a new aquarium straight. We also ensure that they are free from the dreaded Anubias disease which causes sudden melting and can infect others. They are only offered for sale once it meets our quality control standards.
We offer 3 options of white variegations which you can select just before you click Add to Cart. We believe in honesty and therefore would like to inform that if you are running a lower tech tank, it is best to go for Standard or Higher white variegation because if you are choosing Very High white variegation, the high amount of whiteness in the leaves cannot be maintained when grown under lower tech conditions which would be a waste. If you are running higher tech tanks, you can choose any option as you wish including Very High white variegation. Production of very high white variegation requires good quality stock which we have, high to very lighting intensity, Co2 and a lot more effort as the aquarium has to maintained very well to be consistently in an ideal nutrients balance state as algae can grow on the leaves easily under high to very lighting intensity if there is nutrient imbalance.
