Mini Pellia is a species of liverwort but is popularly known as Coral Moss due to its moss-like appearance that resembles corals. It is very beautiful and is one of our top favourites for aquascaping due to the beautiful and natural effect it gives to any aquascape. There are just so many aquascaping possibilities when it comes to this miniature plant. It can be grown as a foreground carpet, attached to rocks and wood or even just simply plugged into crevices and gaps. We love using it to plug it into crevices of our mountain-style rocks and as a groundcover which gives a really natural effect.
It is medium to deep green in colour tone. When it is thriving, it would have a healthy, brighter green appearance and a hard, crispy texture. When used as a foreground or carpeting plant, it is best attached to a stainless steel mesh and this can be done using nylon string or aquarium-safe superglue.
There are at least 3 types of Mini Pellia (Riccardia) in the aquarium hobby. The Mini Pellia (Riccardia) type that is propagated by Aquarzon can thrive relatively easy in an aquarium.
