Aquarzon's Dark Turquoise Blue Green Moscow Guppy (Poecilia Reticulata) is a fancy guppy strain of which the males have a very stunning dark turquoise blue-green colour that covers most of their body and fins. They have a large, gorgeous tail fin (caudal fin). Besides their beautiful reflective turquoise colour, their large tail fin which like a dress that is a sight to behold.

The Dark Turquoise Moscow guppy strain that Aquarzon breeds is a high-grade strain that produces excellent colour.

The colour, Turquoise, is popularly associated with a turquoise gem. It is described as a shade of cyan. Cyan is a colour between green and blue on the visible light spectrum.

Depending on the aquarium lighting and environment, the Turquoise Green Moscow guppy strain can display a colour range of blue to green and a colour tone of dark to bright. For example, it can appear as darker blue-green or brighter green-blue.

Based on our research, the Dark Turquoise Moscow is less common compared to the Blue Moscow guppies strain. Blue Moscow guppies are a guppy strain that was developed via selective breeding in Moscow, Russia in the late 1980’s.

About Male vs Female Dark Turquoise Moscow Guppy Colours

The Dark Turquoise Moscow guppy males have metallic and shining dark turquoise blue-green colouration especially at certain angles, which can be seen from some of the actual photographs we took.

Females have less colour on their body compared to males which is a natural trait for guppies. Most of their colouration is concentrated on their caudal fin (tail fin) which still makes them still beautiful.

Once again, the colour they reflect depends a lot on the aquarium lighting and environment. They are known to be able to adapt their colour to a certain degree based on their environment. As stated on Australian Museum's website, "As a fish swims over a light substrate the chromatosomes are transported into the centre of the cell (aggregation) resulting in the fish appearing paler. Swimming over a dark substrate results in the chromatosomes spreading out throughout the cell (dispersal) which leads to a darkening of the fish’s colour."

Breeding Aquarzon's Dark Turquoise Moscow Guppies

The Dark Turquoise Moscow guppy is one of the most beautiful fancy guppy strains. Guppies are livebearing aquarium fish that can breed easily in an aquarium. They breed easily especially when they are fed with good quality food with high protein. One fertilised mother can give birth to around 15-30 babies around every 1-2 months after reaching maturity.

Aquarzon recommends feeding good quality micro pellets, supplemented by dried daphnia (these are available in our online store and the listings are also displayed at the bottom of this page).

To ensure newborn fry are safe and to avoid parents or other fish-eating them, we recommend buying some mosses. This is so that newborn fry has a place to safely hide when they are vulnerable during the first one or two weeks after birth.

Guppies, Endlers and other live fish bred by Aquarzon are fed with dried Daphnia, freeze-dried blackworms and high-quality fish food. They are well taken care of and we only offer healthy live fish.
