Rotala Blood Red is a rare stem plant that has the potential to grow very red leaves. It is a lovely stem plant that can suit most aquascape styles including Dutch aquascape and Nature Aquarium aquascape planted tanks.

Based on Aquarzon's observations, their leaves are similar in shape to Rotala H'ra whereby their leaves are a narrow, oblong shape. Compared to Ludwigia Super Red Mini, this Rotala Blood Red has smaller and narrower leaves.

Rotala Blood Red and Ludwigia Super Red Mini are the top 3 reddest stem plants in Australia. Just like any other red aquarium stem plant, its colour tone is affected by lighting and iron nutrient. If it is grown under higher lighting level and more iron, it will naturally grow more red. If it is grown in lower lighting level, it will grow less red and more green.

An advantage of this plant though is that it still grow some red tone even under lower lighting level, as long as there is sufficient iron and the lighting is not too low.

This makes it a red stem plant that can suit almost all tank types including low tech tanks.

Based on our records, Rotala Blood Red entered public aquarium trade in Australia in 2021, after Rotala Ramosior Florida.

This plant offered by Aquarzon is 100% aquarium submersed grown indoor and is very clean, free from weeds and outdoor pests. It is not tissue culture or emersed grown stock which can suffer transitional melting issues when planted in an aquarium. Our indoor submersed grown stock is in very healthy condition and ready to be planted straight in an aquarium.
