Helanthium Bolivianum 'Vesuvius' is an attractive midground plant that grows unique spiraling, pointed, narrow leaves. It grows to an average height of around 10-20cm which is an ideal height for a midground plant. It propagates by runners with new plantlets across the substrate. When a new plantlet is formed, it can be cut and repositioned if needed.

This plant is best used in an aquascape that requires an attractive, decorative midground plant with unique pattern leaves. In our opinion, one creative use of this plant in an aquascape is to use this together with Flame Moss as both have the 'flaming pattern' which can create a stunning combination effect.

Based on our research, Helanthium Vesuvius got its updated name (formerly known as Echnidorus Vesuvius) after the research by Samuli Lehtonen in 2007 showed that P
seudostoloniferous (runner-growing sword plants) do not belong to the same Echninodous genus as other Echinodorus plants. Instead, they are of their own type in the family of Alismataceae which is the subgenus, Helanthium. In the same year, Samuli Lehtonen and Leena Myllys made the subgenus of Helanthium a seperate genus based on cladistic and molecular analysis which means that runner-growing sword plants that had names such as Echninodorus Vesuvius was renamed as Helanthium 'Vesuvius'.

When this plant is packed for postage, Aquarzon will try its best to find similar size stems. For example, if 2 stems are ordered, Aquarzon will try to find 2 similar medium/standard size stems. However, it might not be possible all the time due to the natural size variability of this plant and stock availability at that exact point of packing time. Therefore, for example in a case whereby Aquarzon is not able to harvest 2 similar medium/standard size stems, Aquarzon would do its best to harvest the equivalent worth, such as 1 larger stem and 1 smaller stem.

This plant grown by Aquarzon is 100% submersed grown indoor and is very clean, free from weeds and outdoor pests. It is not tissue culture or emersed grown stock which can suffer transitional melting issues when planted in an aquarium. Our indoor submersed grown stock is in very healthy condition and ready to be planted straight in an aquarium.
