Dwarf Bolbitis is rare dwarf variant of the common Bolbitis which is also known as African River Fern. Unlike the common Bolbitis which grows very tall (40+cm), this dwarf variant only grows to around half the size  (up to around 20+cm).

This is dwarf variant has two main advantages:

1) As a midground plant in larger aquariums
The standard Bolbitis is known to be more of a background plant and it can grow very tall and therefore it is not suitable for the midground. However, this dwarf variant can easily be used as a midground plant especially in larger aquariums as it is smaller

2) Suitability for smaller and medium size aquariums
For hobbyists who likes the appearance of Bolbitis but have smaller aquariums where the standard Bolbitis would grow too big in it, this dwarf variant would be perfect as it only grows to around half the size, so it can be used as a midground or background plant

We have tested it in our own aquarium and observed the growth for a period of one year. In our aquarium where we have observed the growth over more than a year, this has a greater tendency to grow more compact and lower compared to standard Bolbitis Heudelotti. This was observed in a high light intensity aquarium with high Co2.
