Fissidens Dietrichiae is a native fissidens that is not common in the Australian aquarium hobby. This fissidens can sometimes be confused with Fissidens Zippelianus / Crispulus (Zipper Fissidens / Zipper Moss). Fissidens Zippelianus is a fissidens originating mostly from Asia and Africa that was scientifically named after the fissidens collector, Zippelius and was then traded as Zipper Moss after Loh Kwek Leong from Singapore proposed that vernacular name in consideration of the scientific name and zipper pattern shape of its leaves.
While this native Fissidens Dietrichiae can have a similar zipper leaf pattern appearance, it has much broader leaves that can be more noticeable when viewed close up. This fissidens can grow very lush under higher intensity lighting. It can have quite a slow growth rate depending on lighting intensity and Co2 availability. This native fissidens was originally purchased from a highly reputable hobbyist in Australia. The current size offered is small due to lack of availability. As availability increases, the size offered will be increased.
