Bucephalandra Skeleton King is a very rare species and one that can hold its value through time due to it being one of a kind (unique pronounced vein/striation pattern on its leaves) besides its rarity. It is one of the rarest Bucephalandra species.
We recommend growing this particular variety emersed as it is one of the few Bucephalandra varieties which are difficult to be successfully submersed grown long term. If you plan to still grow this submersed in an aquarium, it is crucial to have CO2 injection and sufficient lighting. Do note that even with CO2 and sufficient lighting, melting of leaves would still occur as this particular species is challenging to be grown submersed. The best would be to grow it emersed, for example at the top of your aquarium (as long as the leaves still get slightly moist). It is also great to be grown emersed in a paludarium environment.
Out of the 35+ Bucephalandra species propagated by Aquarzon, this Bucephalandra Dark Skeleton King has one of the most unique appearances.
Aquarzon's original stock originates from a local Australian hobbyist.
Based on Aquarzon research and experience, it is one of the fewer Buce varieties that is difficult to grow submersed. Most hobbyists that attempt to grow this submersed usually encounter melting issues that can persist. There are some that had positive experience growing them submersed but the numbers remain relative low.
Due to the nature of this specific Bucephalandra that is difficult to grow submersed, this specific variety is grown emersed. We recommend continuing to grow this variety emersed.
